Syllabus AR 171 Fall 2010-Richard Sayer instructor
Expectations: You're expected to come to class and to make work outside of class.
Assignments: You will have between 5 to 10 assignments in both digital and film. You will be expected to produce 5 developed rolls of film, 5 contact sheets and 5 finished darkroom prints by the end of the semester to handle the film requirement of the class. Digitally you will be expected to produce work both electronically and in print. We will have critiques and regular evaluations.
Cost: I'm going to estimate the cost to each of you be around $100 for supplies but I cannot say for sure. (and this is assuming you all have cameras.
Cameras: Its best that you all have one. There are a few in the library to be signed out. If you are thinking of signing out a camera I need to know to put you on a list. There are cameras available via internet and I have one for sale for $200 with a few lenses( a buddy of mine is selling!)
What will you learn? Hopefully a lot about photography and making images. We're only spending a small amount of time together so you won't likely become master photographers(I'm 25 plus years at it and I still have a ways to go myself!)
Attendance: Just come to class. It makes sense. You have schedule this time to do nothing else. I won't be so bold to say every class will give you a pearl of wisdom, but you never know...so just show up. Your grade does get affected by not being here.
Grades: The best way to insure a good grade is to do the work, do it with honest effort and care, do it on time and as an added bonus do it very well. You do all the above and you get an A. Slack on any one or more and...well you know the deal.
