The most exciting thing about being a teacher is to see how my students grow and create works that surprise me and possibly even themselves. Every semester I am surprised by what some students come up with. The final projects have been for the most part wonderful and well thought out bodies of work. Images like the one below from a student in my second class at Allegheny was one in a series titled Voyeur which was an outstanding example of how a student took an idea and really went for it to create a very unique personal vision. I love the fact that this happens and I can witness it. Artists and art students I believe don't really need us for anything more than offering possibilities and resources and most importantly encouragement to create and push themselves to create. I think instructor are blessed to be able to witness this development--I know for me it energizes me to create and keep pushing myself. Sometimes we need this as much as the students do.

Click on the link below to see more of my student's past works. Some pretty good stuff there.
